Cash Box - Lockable Steel Money Boxes for Shop & Home
A cash box keeps your daily takings, coins and valuables secure without taking up space — at a shop counter, a billing desk, or at home. Oddpod's cash boxes are built from durable steel with a powder-coated finish and a removable plastic coin tray, in four sizes from a compact 13 × 16 × 8.5 cm box (about 750 g) up to an extra-large box around 30 cm wide (about 1.45 kg). Most use a cylindrical key lock with two keys; the Safe Locker Box uses a 3-digit combination instead. Free shipping across India.
What is a cash box?
A cash box is a compact, lockable metal box for storing and organising cash, coins and small valuables. It has a removable tray with sections for coins and space beneath for notes, cheques and documents — ideal for shop counters, cash registers, events and everyday home use.
How to choose the right cash box
- Size first. Small (about 13 × 16 cm) suits a home drawer or small stall; medium and large suit busy shop counters; extra-large (around 30 cm) suits high cash volumes and documents.
- Then the lock. A cylindrical key lock with two keys is simple and reliable, and covers every range except one. For a no-keys option, the Safe Locker Box opens with a 3-digit combination instead.
- Check the build. A heavy-gauge steel body with a powder-coated finish resists scratches and dents, and a recessed or fold-away handle makes it easy to carry. The premium (SR) range is made in Taiwan.
- Match the use. Shop and billing counters suit a larger box with a coin tray; at home, a compact lockable box (or the foam-lined Safe Locker Box) keeps cash, jewellery and papers safe.
Which size should I choose?
- Small (approx. 13 × 16 × 8.5 cm, ~750 g): a compact small cash box for home use, petty cash and a small stall.
- Medium (approx. 20 cm): everyday shop counters, clinics, salons, small offices.
- Large (approx. 24–25 cm): busy retail counters with higher note and coin volume.
- Extra-large (approx. 30 cm, ~1.45 kg): markets, events and shops that also store cheques and documents.

How to use and care for your cash box
Set your cash box on a flat counter or inside a drawer, and keep your two keys in separate places so you always have a spare — or, on the Safe Locker Box, set your own 3-digit code. Sort coins in the removable tray and keep notes, cheques and documents in the space beneath. To clean, wipe the powder-coated steel with a dry or slightly damp cloth and avoid harsh chemicals; keep the keyhole free of dust and never force the key. Looked after this way, a steel cash box stays reliable for years.
Cash box FAQs
Do Oddpod cash boxes come with a lock? Yes — every model locks. Most have a cylindrical key lock supplied with two keys. The Safe Locker Box is the exception, opening with a 3-digit combination instead of keys.
Are these cash boxes fireproof? No. These are secure, lockable steel cash boxes for organising and protecting everyday cash and valuables — they are not fireproof safes. If fire protection is your main need, choose a dedicated fireproof safe.
What is the difference between a cash box and a safe? A cash box is a compact, portable, lockable box for organising day-to-day cash, coins and small valuables. A safe is heavier, usually fixed in place, and often adds fire or higher burglary protection for long-term or high-value storage. For everyday takings at a shop or home, a cash box is the practical choice.
How much cash can a cash box hold? It depends on the size. The removable tray sorts coins and small notes on top, while the space beneath holds note bundles, coin rolls, cheques and documents. Larger boxes naturally hold more — choose medium, large or extra-large for higher volumes.
Which cash box is best for a shop? A cash box for shops and billing counters is one of the most popular choices — the medium, large and extra-large boxes work well at shop counters and cash registers, with a removable coin tray to sort notes and coins quickly. A petty cash box in a smaller size suits a home office or a quiet counter.
What are they made of? A durable steel body with a powder-coated finish and a removable plastic coin tray. The compact Safe Locker Box is the exception — it has a foam-lined interior instead of a tray, for protecting valuables.
How do I keep the cash box and its lock in good condition? Wipe the powder-coated steel body with a dry or slightly damp cloth and avoid harsh cleaners. Keep the keyhole free of dust, don't force the key, and store your spare key somewhere safe — the steel body and coated finish resist scratches and rust with basic care.
How does the combination lock on the Safe Locker Box work? The Safe Locker Box opens with a 3-digit combination that you set yourself, so there are no keys to carry or lose. Every other cash box in the range uses a standard key lock with two keys.
Can I bolt the cash box down? No — these are portable cash boxes designed to be carried, so they don't have pre-drilled anchor holes. If you need a box that stays fixed in one place, choose a bolt-down safe instead.
What if I lose the key? Key-lock boxes come with two keys, so you already have a spare. If you would rather not depend on keys at all, choose the Safe Locker Box, which opens with a combination only.
Can I use a cash box at home? Yes — a compact lockable cash box is a handy, affordable way to secure cash, jewellery and important documents at home.
