Magnifying Sheets
More About Magnifying Sheets
A magnifying sheet is a thin, flat Fresnel lens that lays directly over a page instead of a handheld glass magnifier. Oddpod's MagSheet range covers 5 sizes, from a wallet-sized card up to a 400 x 300mm acrylic panel, all giving up to 3x magnification.
What is a magnifying sheet?
A magnifying sheet uses a Fresnel lens — a flat surface moulded with fine concentric ribs — to bend light and magnify whatever's underneath it, instead of a curved glass lens in a frame. Because it's flat and thin, it lays directly over a book, map or document rather than being held up to your eye. The ribbed surface is a normal part of how a Fresnel lens works, so expect some visible texture ("air scratches") on the sheets — that isn't damage.

How to choose the right magnifying sheet
- Want something pocket-sized? The Pocket MagSheet, at 55 x 85mm, is the most portable option and weighs just 3g.
- Reading full pages — books, newspapers, maps? The A4 MagSheet and Frame MagSheet are both roughly A4-sized; the Frame adds a black vinyl edge for easier handling, while the A4 is frameless and lighter.
- Magnifying something bigger than a page? The Large Acrylic MagSheet covers 400 x 300mm, made of rigid acrylic rather than the flexible PVC used in the other four — handle it carefully, as it's fragile.
- Buying for a classroom or gifting multiples? Pocket, Postcard, A4 and Frame all come in multi-packs up to 10 sheets (Pocket goes up to 100).
Magnifying sheet FAQs
Are these glass? No. The Pocket, Postcard, A4 and Frame MagSheets are ribbed PVC plastic; the Large MagSheet is rigid acrylic. None of the five are glass.
Why does the surface look ribbed or scratched? That's the Fresnel lens structure itself, not damage — a flat lens made of fine concentric ribs, which is what lets it magnify while staying thin and flat.
What magnification do these give? All five provide up to 3x magnification.
Is the Large Acrylic MagSheet fragile? Yes — being rigid acrylic rather than flexible PVC, it should be handled more carefully than the other sheets.
Popular right now: A4 MagSheet.
